The field hockey is the second most popular sport in the world after soccer, and is the main branch of hockey and the form of the gameplay. The field hockey has prestigious competitions for women and men in international tournaments. These tournaments include the Olympics, the World Hockey Cup, and the annual World Cup championship tournament.
Hockey types are separated from each other according to their history and the countries they are played. For example, field hockey is national sport of India and Pakistan whereas ice hockey is common in the northern highlands of Europe and America. Flagpoles on Field Hockey The height of the flagpoles varies between 1.20m and 1.50. They are placed in each corner of the pitch. They should not present any danger. The flags should not exceed the diameters of 300mm both in width and height.
Goal Posts in Field Hockey Goal posts are 2.14 meters in height and 3.6 meters in width.

The Ball Used In Field Hockey The ball should spherical and stiff with a weight of minimum 156 grams and maximum 163 grams. Its diameter should be minimum 224 millimetres and maximum 235 millimetres.
Stick The stick is straight and curved on the tip. It has round edges. Its total weight cannot exceed 737 grams
Field Hockey Players They should wear the same type of jerseys. They cannot wear anything that can put opponent players in danger. Their jerseys and equipment are the same as the soccer except the stick.
Captains The captains are distinguished by a special armband attached to their arms.
Referees The match is managed by two referees.
Duration of The Match A Field Hockey Match is played in two periods of 35 minutes. The halftime is 5 minutes.
