Padel (or paddle) is a type of racquet sport and although not as popular in the world as tennis, it is especially popular in Spanish speaking countries such as Mexico, Spain and Argentina. The Background of Padel Tennis
Padel is a type of racquet sport and is a close relative of tan. While not as popular in the world as tennis, it is especially popular in Spanish-speaking countries such as Mexico, Spain, and Argentina. It is growing as a sport and the game is spreading to more and more countries with each passing year, and its popularity in Spanish resorts has exposed it to many British visitors, making England one of the largest countries in the world. Also popular in the US, it is known as paddle tennis and is often thought of as a game played by wealthier members of society in elite country clubs. However, more and more schools are starting to form paddle clubs. As a game, it is very similar to tennis, but with some minor differences. To win a set, matchmaking must win six games with two open games. If the score reaches 6-6, a tiebreak is played, with the winner being the first to score seven points with two net points.
Padel Tennis Rules
- Padel games will be played between two pairs of players using padel rackets.
- Before a match, a coin is tossed. The winner chooses whether to serve first or which end of the court to start.
- Every match starts with a serve that must be done under the arm, but must go diagonally to the opponent’s court, like tennis.
- Both teams must try to score more points than their opponents.
- Opposition earns one point when any of the following occurs:
- The ball bounces twice
- The ball hits you or a teammate
- The ball hits the string boundary or other fixture (classified as out-of-bounds) before it crosses the net or enters the opponent’s court.
- Matches consist of 3 sets and each set consists of six games. The winners of two of the three sets will be declared the winners of the padel (paddle) match.
